DO YOU BLOG-FISH OR OIL RIG HOP?
Today’s blog is about two new terms (tools) I have added to my toolkit. At yesterday’s Super Tuesday Call To Action webinar (GVO), Mark Call taught us how to Oil Rig Hop and Blog Fish.
These are two free ways to build relationships and attract traffic to your site.
Before we begin, visualize the internet as the ocean. Your blog (website) sits out in the ocean like an oilrig. Your goal is to draw fish to your ‘rig’. Algae attract small fish; small fish attract larger fish, and the feeding cycle goes on and on. Your comment on someone else’s blog becomes the algae. Visit one of the top sites in your niche and leave a meaningful comment, raise a question or disagree (politely). Sign your name only. Do not promote yourself or your business on someone else’s site. Your comment will leave a back-link to your site and may draw others to visit your site to learn more about you.
Which sites do I visit? Do a google search in your niche and seek out the top three sites and become a regular commenter.
Blog Fishing is similar. Visit other sites and leave a comment. Do not promote yourself. Leave a sincere comment. Respond to comments on your site personally. Thank them by name. Beware of blog sharks—those who come to your site and promote their products.
This webinar was another one of the free training sessions provided by GVO Academy, one of the awesome tools that come free with your GVO membership. Take our 14 day trial for the cost of only $1.00 sign up now at
